I've always wanted the freedom of online pickup races with the structure of a league and that's pretty much exactly what they have at iRacing. You can race anytime that fits your schedule (no more getting up early on Saturday morning!) and you can still compete in a 12-week long season for points and ultimately division/series championship.The cars are well modeled both aesthetically as well as the physics and there are plenty of options for nearly everyone -- stock cars/trucks/etc for the oval people and several road-racing choice for those who like turning both directions. The tracks are simply amazing; the level of detail, and overall feel driving around these real-world tracks will blow your mind (no fantasy tracks here; nothing but reality!). The best part has to be the laser scanned tracks. The tracks are accurate to within 1mm of the real world track. Every bump, dip, crack, building, wall, etc is modeled. Bumpy tracks like Daytona and Atlanta are extremely fun to race on. The track and car feels very alive compared to past racing sims.The other thing that is so much better than other sims is the organized competition within iRacing. There are many series to choose from. There is an iRating which determines your skill level and a Safety Rating which determines how safe you are on the track. These 2 things have to be one of the most important features of iRacing. Races are split into groups depending on your iRating. This way you are always grouped with people of a similar skill level. Read more None better!, By = Fun: This review is from: iRacing 1-Month New Subscription (CD-ROM) Have been Sim racing for over ten years with various Sims, mostly dirt stock cars. iRacing has the best graphics, servers, cars & tracks that you're going to find. Since your racing against people with the same drivers safety rating, your on equal playing field. I gave this a try while at Indy for the 500 and couldn't believe the quality of the Sim. This is very addicting! Also you will never get bored with this Sim as it has so many different types of racing from oval to road racing. You can talk to other drivers during the race to let them know where your passing them. Very nicely developed and always improving. Best bang for your buck, right here! |
